5 things to do when feeling depressed

Hey guys, how are you doing? I’ve been wanting to write for some days now, but I had some health problems I needed to take care of. Today I wanted to talk about things I do when I feel depressed. They have worked for me, and I really hope they will work for you as well. I know it’s not easy to get yourself out of bed in those moments, but it’s very important to at least give it a try, for your own good.

5 things to do when feeling depressed:

  1. Read inspirational stories
  2. Watch a comedy movie or tv show
  3. Make a list of 10 things you’re grateful for
  4. Take a walk alone in the nature and think about your dreams
  5. Play with your pet.

The first thing I try to do is reading inspirational stories of people from all around the world. I usually go at the official website of The Secret and start scrolling through the stories. It’s amazing how a story of a person you don’t even know can change your mood, and give you hope about the future. If you’re not into reading, you can open Youtube and start watching videos of motivational speeches. It’s pretty much the same result. You’ll end up feeling better, probably.

If not, you can watch a comedy movie that can make you laugh, or a tv show. I always watch Friends, it’s like my favorite show ever. I’ve seen it a million times and every time I get the same good feeling while watching it. If you’ve never seen it, please, do yourself a favor, and start it, like now, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

I know that sometimes you just can’t make yourself to read, or watch something, but you can write 10 things you’re grateful for. It can be material things, it can be people, family, friends, your lover, the weather, your house, it doesn’t matter what, as long as it is something or someone that you’re really grateful for.

After finishing your gratitude list, which I really suggest doing it daily, I would recommend taking a walk alone. Breathing fresh air, and thinking about your dreams, will make you feel so much better. It works every time, for everyone. Walking is the best remedy, even better if you exercise, because you’ll remove all the bad energy.

And the last thing but not least, is playing with your pet. If you have a dog, take him with you for a walk. If you have a cat just grab a sock or a rope and start playing with her around the house. Cuddle your pets, start bonding with them, and you’ll start to feel the love that they give you, and eventually you’ll feel a lot better.

These are my suggestions but you can start making your own list of things depending on what you think it will work best for you. You have to remember that everything is temporary, every bad feeling it will go way. I know it feels like the end of the world, but please focus on the good stuff, no matter how small, they have the power to change how we feel.

And don’t forget (my favorite quote) “What feels like the end is often the beginning.”
